Top Tips for Keeping Your Personal Workspace Organized

Whether you have a space where you can play online games, create new music, or edit your photos, a dedicated personal workspace is a good way to help you focus, and dedicate your time to your hobby. For your workspace to have the intended impact on your productivity and concentration, it has to be clean and well-organized. Without a tidy space, you will waste time trying to find things, and the clutter on your desk will more likely make you stressed, and unmotivated.

Here are some organizational hacks that will help you easily clear up your workspace and enjoy your time more.

#1 Do one big declutter

To start with, you should review your desk space and take some time to declutter it. The best way to do this is to get rid of everything, give it a deep clean, and only put back on your desk what you need. This will help you get rid of rubbish and anything unnecessary, and make more space to clean and organize your desk. If your desk is used for a specific task, such as music, then make sure only the relevant items that you need are within reach. Everything else can be moved away from your desk and live somewhere else.

#2 Organize your belongings

Before you put items back onto your workspace you may consider creating a system or opting for space-saving tools that will keep your items organized for future use. This will help you to avoid filling your drawers back up with clutter, which will still keep you searching for items when you need them. An organized space will also reduce hazards and keep your equipment in good condition. For example, you can buy a cable management tool from Singular Sound, or a desk drawer organizer that keeps all your equipment separate from one another. You may also consider installing shelves above your desk so that you can store paperwork, books and other relevant items closeby. Check you have everything on your desk, and store away things you don’t need, for example, rather than having a whole pot of pens, just keep the stationery that you use to hand.

#3 Create desk rules

Do you eat at your desk when you are busy? Where do you put your rubbish? Do you hang your clothes on the back of your chair?

It can be a great idea to set yourself some rules that you can stick to, that will help keep your personal workspace clean and clear. This can be anything from not eating at your desk, placing a trash bin close by, and not hanging your clean clothes on your chair. Rather than treating your desk like a spare space for clothes and eating, you should make the effort to keep it clean and clear and stick to your rules.
Having a dedicated workspace for your favorite activities and hobbies is great. Make sure you keep it clean and organized, so you can spend less time looking for things, and more time enjoying your hobbies.
