Rewards are important for many employees. It shows value and appreciation for those that are working hard to bring results to the company they work for.
A recent survey found that employee recognition was the most important factor for 37% of employees. That’s a sizeable amount of employees that value rewards and recognition as being the most important thing to them when working for a company.
If a business is looking for more ways to reward employees in the workplace, here are some helpful tips.
Thank them in a public way
In order to help reward your employees, a good way to do so is to do it in a public way. Many employees like the idea of having their hard work recognized by more than just the manager or supervisor who is responsible for them.
For a lot of employees, getting recognition through a staff meeting or through a company newsletter is valuable. It can help showcase the work that the employee is doing and it can have its own influences on the employee when it comes to their peers.
Provide a physical keepsake
A physical keepsake is always appreciated when it comes to rewarding employees. From a business like Challenge Coins Ltd, the company could create its own brand badge that can be handed out to those who do exceptional work for the company.
It might not be the most high-value reward to give but it’s one that will certainly be appreciated if they’re rarely given out.
Give them a bonus
A big driver of working hard for employees is when they’re given the promise or incentive of bonuses. These may be rewarded if employees reach a certain target each year or randomly awarded to those that do good work for the business.
There may also be bonuses given to those employees that have been in the company for X amount of years. Bonuses are always welcome by employees!
Offer a rewards scheme
A rewards scheme is a great introduction to a business that might not yet have one. There are plenty of reward platforms available to sign up for, which can make the creation and management of rewards, a lot easier to do.
This can be helpful in companies where there are a lot of staff members and HR teams are needing to manage employees more effectively.
Invest in more training and qualifications
While it may not be a direct financial benefit to the employee, investing a certain amount into the employee’s training and qualifications can be a great opportunity for the individual.
For some, these training opportunities may give them the skills and experience needed to jump up a pay grade or even gain a promotion within the business. In the long run, this type of benefit might be better than getting a bonus instead.
Rewarding employees is something that should be done more by businesses. Not only does it provide great workplace satisfaction, but it also helps to retain employees for longer than expected.
