Many people are against the idea of buying a new car from the outset. They believe that preloved is best and essentially always the way to go.
But is that always the case? In this post, we look at some of the financial reasons why you might want to shop new Chevrolet vehicles and not even consider second-hand options.
Lower Maintenance And Repair Costs
The biggest factor and reason for buying a new vehicle is that you can essentially eliminate maintenance and repair costs. Many new vehicles come with warranties that allow them to go up to 60,000 miles, all with full cover and repairs guaranteed. You never have to worry about them breaking down or dying on you because the garage will always support you.
2025 vehicles often have zero maintenance anyway for the first three years because of the quality of the components and engineering. Meanwhile, a much older vehicle might require up to $2,500 annually or more, reducing the value proposition substantially.
Fuel Efficiency And Technology
At the same time, the newest vehicles also have the best fuel efficiency and technology inside them. Many have advanced engines that can go much further for less money, reducing what you have to spend at the pump.
Most hybrids these days will do in excess of 100 miles to the gallon. But even regular engines have become steadily more efficient over the years,
Furthermore, there are the emissions savings, if that’s something that concerns you. CO2 production for a lot of these vehicles is far lower than it was in the past, and it keeps going down as engineering teams refine their designs.
Financial Incentives
Far from being too expensive, many new vehicles often come with financial incentives. Governments and companies are always looking for ways to bring costs down.
One of those incentives is interest-free loans. These allow you to pay 0% on credit for the vehicle over the life of the loan, which is usually around 3 to 5 years for a car.
What’s more, many EVs have direct subsidies, meaning you get money back when you buy them. This reduces the costs further, especially if you opt for a finance option.
Longevity
Another reason people love new cars is their sheer longevity. Many of these new vehicles will last more than 20 years because of the quality of modern engineering.
This is becoming more obvious nowadays because of the number of vehicles still on the road from the early 2000s. These cars are still running well and seem to be able to cope better with aging than those from the 1970s.
This means that a lot of people simply buy a “car for life“. Often, they can continue running the same vehicle for decades if they care for it.
Insurance Costs
Finally, insurance cost differences for new cars tend to be quite small. While they are more valuable than older vehicles, they also have advanced safety features that make accidents less likely. Vehicles with steer assist sometimes have lower premiums.
