In this video, Peter Zeihan is back to report on China banning the export of some metals used in producing green energy devices like cars and turbines. According to Zeihan, this isn’t a problem because the US has its production. China is engaging in some tit-for-tat because of the recent gutting of their semiconductor industry by the Biden administration. I will say that these trade policies are often what leads to a hot war. In the lead up to WWII, the US banned the export of scrap metal to Japan in 1937 among other trade spars and it eventually led to a complete breakdown of relations and war broke out. It’s not something to worry about right now but certainly something to bear in mind as we keep an eye on China.
