Climate Change is raging, EVs are bad for the planet, and while there is great will to do something about all of that, there are few solutions. In this video, we learn about one such solution that doesn’t sound very fun or glamorous and that’s degrowth. Degrowth is a movement that proposes the idea that we don’t just need to go net-zero; we need to completely end consumption as we’ve known it and move to a completely sustainable economy that meets our needs and the needs of nature. There are a variety of ways to achieve this that including ending private ownership, changing where and how food is grown, and ending planned obsolescence of products that are produced. Capitalism, particularly mass production, is predicated on people buying things, usually in great numbers. Degrowth seeks to move away from that as an economic imperative.

In this video, we investigate Degrowth as an idea and a potential set of policies. It might sound dangerous and like a completely chang in lifestyle but that may be coming for us whether we like it or not.
