City Nerd has a nice channel but their obsession with land use is tedious. You know how this is going to go: too many parking lots, too many cars, should be transit and dense housing! That’s pretty much the entire video. However, what I don’t understand is why state capitals have to have superior land use. The Washington State capital in Olympia is surrounded by office buildings and lawns. Denver is more urban with the City and County of Denver building across a park with the greek theater and Lincoln Boulevard and a cathedral on the other with a federal court house and the Denver City Library on the other side. But is that bad land use? I don’t think so. But it’s a City Nerd video so of course, cars are evil and take up too much space.
