Which comes first? The transit or the walkable neighborhoods? In this video, we learn about how transit can fail by not relieving car traffic because it’s not connected to where people need to go and its not connected to areas where walkability makes it easy to get around and do things. However, it can be hard to build transit in American cities because they are built for the car and that means things are far apart and not friendly to pedestrians. How do we start to fix this? In this video, we find out from Not Just Bikes how we can connect walkable areas and encourage more walkable areas to be built by building the transit and showing how it can work. I’ve seen this sort of work in Seattle with the Seattle street car system.
