I’ve been investigating cybersecurity for some time now and I’ve had 4 experts on The Cameron Journal Podcast about the subject. The internet is already a rather insecure place. Most security firms that want things truly secure don’t have them connected to the internet at all. For everything else, basic security like good passwords and software to detect attacks and viruses are now a common security feature. Encryption is also something that many people and companies use to protect data. However, Encryption and good passwords only work because they are too hard to guess for classical computers. Quantum computers, on the other hand, can easily guess passwords and undo encryption because they are so much faster and can work in probability. This means that as quantum computing begins to come online, all our security features that we have now may be obsolete. So what does that mean for the future of security?
