In this video from Reason Magazine, they discuss the argument that gun control doesn’t work as such. Now, I will say at the very begining of this that I don’t quite agree with their assertion. In Domestic Violence cases, a gun in the home will result in a 4 times greater chance of a partner being shot. The leading cause of death for children under 5 is a gun in the home. It is no secret that we have a mass shooting problem in this country, particular in the school system. Although synagogues, churches, banks, and concerts, are venues for this as well. And yet, in the rest of the OECD, this is much less common. Australia and the UK have showed that buy back programs and reducing the guns in society can work. However, this video is important because it looks at the gun debate in a different way and provides some necessary context for the debate.
