Social media is often described as a god-send for businesses of all sizes. This is because cultivating a strong online presence can make your business gain the recognition it deserves, expanding your client base and increasing your earning potential. However, your social feeds aren’t the only way to achieve this goal, especially if you run a ‘physical’ store alongside your online one.

In these instances, you need to work on bringing in more foot traffic (i.e., increasing the number of people who enter your store). This will help you create a name for yourself within the local community, encourage ‘word of mouth’ marketing, and can even boost your sales considerably as you can interact face-to-face with your customers. Per a recent study, “Face-to-face sales techniques strengthen relationships with prospects and customers, enhance brand credibility, and enable reps to communicate key value propositions more effectively”, resulting in more sales.

With that in mind, here are some simple ways in which you can improve foot traffic for your business.

Work on your outdoor space. Regardless of whether you’re located in a busy shopping area or somewhere a little more remote, you must work on the ‘outdoor’ space surrounding your store, especially if you have a carpark. This is because the exterior of your shop is the first thing a customer sees, meaning they’ll base their perception of your brand based on how well (or poorly) this is maintained. Usually, you can give off a good impression by simply carrying out regular maintenance on the area. For example, if you’ve noticed cracks in your concrete, try searching “concrete crack repair near me” online to find a specialist who can come in and fill the cracks.

Ace your window displays. Window displays are a great way to generate attention for your brand, advertise your latest deal, or simply showcase your products. As a result, it’s important that you learn how to create effective window displays, focusing on showcasing your products in the best light, while using colors that grab customers’ eyes and attention as they pass by.

Keep your store clean. When running a business, cleanliness and profitability go hand in hand. After all, would you want to purchase a product from a store that is dirty, disorganized, and dusty? This is particularly important in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, as our expectations and standards pertaining to cleanliness have never been higher. Thankfully, this can easily be remedied by putting together a simplistic cleaning rota and ensuring that you stick to it.
Speak to your target audience. Another way in which you can increase foot traffic to your business is to identify what your customers really care about, and ensure that you are meeting their needs and expectations. For example, you could hold a focus group with your target audience, asking them about what draws them in to a store (and on the same thread, what turns them away). You can then use this advice to implement meaningful changes
