When it comes to looking youthful, this is something that’s always been targeted mostly towards women. It’s usually been women who have been expected to look youthful as they age, but as everyone knows, age is natural. Aging isn’t bad, but you can expect far more confidence if you look young, feel young, and have the wisdom that age has brought. So, with that said, nowadays, there’s slowly been this expectation that men need to look more youthful.

Nowadays, you’re going to see a lot of anti-aging skincare directed towards men, hair plugs, plastic surgery, and so on, and all of these are directed towards men. To a degree, this does put pressure on men, but at the same time, for those who want to work towards looking youthful,  there are now welcoming solutions for it. Sure, while there are expensive things you can do to preserve your youthful appearance, is there anything cost-effective that also works? Absolutely! So, here is what you need to know when it comes to persevering in your youthful look!

Put Skincare First

It’s not a gimmick; it’s completely true, in order to look youthful, you need to indulge in self-care, especially when it comes to the skin. So, gone are the days when skincare was solely a concern for women. Just like what’s been targeting women, men’s skin also requires proper care to combat the effects of aging. When it comes to all skincare, it’s all simplistic, and you don’t really need to go elaborate on it (unless you want to, of course). So, if you want to put your skin first and create a good skincare routine, then it’s really all about cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing, and sunscreen application (regardless of the weather or season). You’re going to want to look for products that suit your skin type and address concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, and dullness.

Of course, you might even want to get the “big guns” out and even start incorporating a retinol-based product into your routine, which can promote collagen production and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. So, in general, to sum it all up, this is the number one thing you need to do; while everything else on the list is super important, this is going to be the game changer that you absolutely need to have. And no, you don’t need fancy brands or even elaborate Korean skincare products, either.

You’ll Need to Stay Hydrated

This is kind of a given, but be sure to drink enough water. This does affect your skin and your overall health, too. Alcohol dehydrates you, soda and juices have way too much sugar (which isn’t good for the skin either), and overall, just drinking enough water is going to help elasticity in your skin, too. When it comes to the diet, this is going to matter too, because eating whole foods- especially those rich in water like watermelon, cucumber, broccoli, lettuce, berries, and so on.

It’s All About the Diet

You’re only as old as you feel, so if you feel old, how can you expect to keep up a youthful appearance as you age? It’s all really about what you eat. That phrase “you are what you eat”’  surprisingly holds a lot of truth, right? So, just keep in mind that what you put into your body reflects on the outside.

A diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals can work wonders for your skin and body. Include a variety of colorful fruits and vegetables, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats in your meals. Foods like berries, spinach, fish, nuts, and avocados are known to promote skin health and fight inflammation. This needs to be consistent, and it needs to be daily! Sure, junk food from time to time is fine, but enjoy it in moderation.

Consider the Haircut

Your hair is going to be one of the biggest indicators of how youthful you’re going to look. You’re going to want something that works with your face and, of course, works with your age too. Why not try a nice taper fade or even grow your hair out? How’s the color of your hair looking? Does it look dull? Starting to gray? While it’s entirely up to you, if you want a sexy older look, then salt and pepper hair is great, or if you only want to look younger, then dying out all the gray works, too. If you are concerned about bald patches or thinning hair, look into scalp micropigmentation, which involves adding the appearance of hair follicles in a nonsurgical procedure to areas where there isn’t much hair to give the illusion of thick hair and fullness.

However, changes in density or texture can also make it harder to find a style that feels intentional rather than unkempt. Taking the time to understand what complements your features now can make a big difference in how confident you feel day-to-day. And when you’re refining that look, Barbers London (or elsewhere) can provide precise cuts and traditional grooming techniques that can help your hair appear sharper and more balanced.

Protect Yourself from the Sun

As mentioned earlier, what you do to your skin and how you take care of your skin means absolutely everything. Your skincare is going to be the fountain of youth. As briefly mentioned, no matter what season, time, or weather, you should always wear sunscreen. Nowadays, this is being pressed on more and more, and it’s so true.

Sun damage is one of the leading causes of premature aging. UV rays can lead to wrinkles, age spots, and even skin cancer. You need to try and make it a habit to apply sunscreen with at least SPF 30 whenever you’re exposed to the sun. Also, it’s best to go ahead and begin with wearing protective clothing; sunglasses and hats can also help shield your skin from harmful rays. All of this matters, and no, it’s far from going overboard. This is going to be one of the biggest and most impactful ways of keeping your youth.

Stay Social

While sometimes social situations can be stressful or maybe even unhealthy from all the food and alcohol that gets involved, at the end of the day, it’s just best to keep social. So, maintaining an active social life and engaging in activities you’re passionate about can have a positive impact on your outlook and appearance. Meaningful connections and enjoyable experiences contribute to a youthful mindset and radiance.

So, you’re technically not going to look younger, but you’re still going to emit this youth. If you see older folks at the bar, just laughing, talking, and having a good time, they emit that youthful feeling, right? Well, it’s going to be the same for you too!
