There’s a vast list of methods of cutting emissions when traveling. But there are also many green transport alternatives that are much more fun and better for you and the environment.
Riding Your Bike
Riding a bike to work is a great way to save everything. You save money on fuel, reduce your carbon footprint and save yourself by reaping the health benefits. Of course, riding a bike on public roads becomes dangerous, especially in colder weather. So be careful on the roads, and follow all safety precautions. However, always consult a bicycle accident lawyer before taking actions if you find yourself involved in one of the 35,000 bike incidents per year.
Trendy eBikes and eScooters
eScooters are becoming a common sight in cities. In the UK especially, government incentives to get people moving and reduce carbon emissions means they are littered about town. They’re also a great way to reduce your personal emissions since they’re 100% electric. eBikes are also excellent for cycling to work with some assistance. These are handy for making tricky inclines easier since you can use the electrical engine to get you up hills without the problem of exertion.
Alternative Green Transport Includes Skating
Skating has been around for decades and comes in and out of fashion every now and then. But no matter the trend, it’s a green way to travel with many health benefits, including the following:
- Skating works every muscle group in your body, meaning you get a great workout.
- The exercises involved are among some of the best for cardio health.
- It helps keep your joints flexible, which is great for when you’re getting older.
Skating or rollerblading also burns as many calories as running. Depending on your weight, it can be around 400 per hour with a healthy diet and part of a good exercise routine..
Go Retro with Segways
The Segway Personal Transporter (Segway PT), which runs on electricity and is good for the environment, is a fun way to get around. Segway was developed quite some time ago and has become an iconic hobby. They are excellent for quickly traversing rough terrain, which is why some US police forces use them. So if you have to go through forest or park areas with inclines, these are a great help. Just be aware that they are illegal in some public areas in the UK.
Bus and Train
While they aren’t specifically alternative forms of transport, using public bus and rail services is the most environmentally friendly way to travel long distances. For getting around large cities or from one to the other, biking might not be suitable. If you usually drive 20 miles to work and switch to public transportation, you can cut your CO2 emissions by 20 pounds per day. And considering buses are quickly becoming electric, we can all help reduce them significantly.
Summary
Biking, skating, and using electrically powered scooters. These are among some of the most popular alternative green transport options for getting to work and back in relative safety.
