If you’re making your first road trip in an RV, it might be quite eye-opening as to just how different the experience can be. You can enjoy all of the freedom and exploration that the typical road trip tends to offer, but with all of the comforts of home with you, as well. This makes it much more convenient to go further and do more. So, it’s worth taking advantage of that opportunity, with some of the following things you should try to do on your first RV road trip.
Bring A Camera With You
One of the single best parts of a road trip is that it offers you the ability to see your journey from a perspective easily missed. It’s a lot easier to stop wherever the road takes you, so make a point of stopping to explore scenic overlooks, quirky roadside attractions, and quaint small towns. Bring your camera with you so that you can take some truly memorable snaps of the journey along the way.
Find Yourself An RV Park
One of the best things about having an RV rather than a regular car is that it gives you access to some of the best outdoor rest spots along the way. Find some RV parks on your way, and you can enjoy some of the most beautiful yet convenient campgrounds you’re likely to find, with hookups for water, electricity, and waste disposal. They also tend to offer amenities like swimming pools, playgrounds for the family, and the chance to swap stories with other travelers.
Get Your Walking Boots On
Just because you have the option of enjoying the country from the comfort of your RV doesn’t mean that should be your exclusive mode of getting around. Take the time to slow down and connect with the outdoors by finding some great hiking trails along the way. Make sure to bring your hiking gear with you. Many RV parks are near trails, state parks, and national forests, giving you the chance to stretch your legs and enjoy some viewpoints you might not see otherwise.
Cook Outdoors
While you might have a kitchen inside the RV that makes it easy to prepare simple meals and keep you and your fellow travelers fed, you shouldn’t miss the chance to cook outside, either. On your first trip, try grilling dinner at your campsite or making breakfast under the open sky. Many RV parks provide picnic tables, grills, or fire pits, turning mealtime into a memorable experience.
Spend Time Around The Campfire
No road trip in nature is complete without at least one night gathered around the campfire. Make sure you’re in a space where it’s committed and soak up the atmosphere of the outdoors under that open flame’s glow. It makes a perfect night for storytelling, singing, toasting marshmallows, or simply looking up at the stars.
Road trips, especially those in RVs, are every bit as exciting and fulfilling as you’re willing to make them. Put yourself out there, try something new, and you just might find yourself hooked on the call to adventure they offer.
