Emmett Till, and his story, is an iconic tragedy from the early days of the civil rights movement. Murdered by people in a small Alabama town because he allegedly whistled at a white women (not allowed at the time in the Jim Crow South). The murders weren’t brought to justice for years and the woman in question has never been prosecuted for a false report. This tragedy has really yet to be memorialized in film but fortunately, his story is in the wonderful hands of Whoopi Goldberg who spent 20 years trying to get this made. In this video, we learn more about the cast and the film.
