So this video is a little…heavy handed with the “homoerotic” aspect of guys supporting other guys. The main thrust is that young men, all men really, need to engage with other men in all ways: emotionally and physically. The idea is that if guys have quality relationships with each other, then that will help them feel less alone, and that would help society. I am reminded of a video of mine that went viral back in 2015 on CollegeVideos.com about how straight guys in college were doing sexual stuff together and how it was “trendy.” It’s always been a thing but the news story was funny and I got 1.5 million views. Men relating to each other in emotional and even sexual ways and not being “gay” was well-known back to antiquity.
In many Arab/Islamic countries, this dynamic (not the sexual part) remains intact. In various Arab/Islamic countries, you’ll find men holding hands in public and they are both married to women and have children. The foundation of society is around male friendship, especially in more conservative societies where women do not leave the house without male escort. Before the LGBT movement started in the 1970s, interaction between men was different and it is time we bring that back. Rather than making heterosexual relationships the foundation of society, if we made same-sex relationships the foundation, it would place less burden on both sides of heterosexual unions.
