The House of Representatives Isn’t Representative

I’m sharing this video because I really like the premise. Mr. Beat goes through why the US House isn’t very representative of the country. There are a few problems: districts are too big and one person has to represent far too many people and interests. I’ve argued that the House needs to triple in size in order to be more representative of the country and this video illustrates that point perfectly. It also would be nice to have multi-member districts (like we do here in WA state!) There is also the problem that our reps spend far too much time fundraising for their political parties or themselves rather than doing the business of the nation. This needs to change. The federal government can function better but we need to change how the lower house of Congress work to make that happen.
