Seattle is Rebuilding the Stroad

Seattle is redeveloping US 99 (a road I use often) and it shows how you can leave the stroad behind in favor of something better (maybe?).

A stroad, which is a portmanteau of street and road is described as a place where people can turn off and on directly into and out of businesses like a street but that still moves major through traffic like a road. There are plenty of examples of this around the country but here in Seattle, old US 99 has been long supplanted by I-5. This presents an opportunity for the city to change how people use US 99 and how it interacts with the public both pedestrian and automobile. In this video, from City Nerd, we are going to learn more about the redevelopment plans.
