The Boeing 767 is a workhorse for Delta. The widebody aircraft accommodates a 2-3-2 configuration and has enough range for a variety of routes. However, Boeing quit making the 767 about 15 years ago, and the latest models are aging and slated for retirement as the 2020s close out. The problem for Delta is that there is no clear replacement that can carry the same amount of passengers, in the same configuration, at the right cost. Airbus 350 (A Delta favorite) doesn’t have the passenger capacity or the range. The Boeing 787 is took large, and the 777 is too large for smaller routes. There just isn’t a plane in that perfect spot that the 767 has occupied. So what is Delta going to do? In this video, we find out about Delta’s planes to bring its 767 services to a close and what planes will begin replacing their aging fleet.
