Back in the 1970s, there was a plan to dam up San Francisco Bay to improve water flow, ship traffic, and much more. The idea sounded great until…they built a model and tried tracking how it would affect the land around the bay and discovered a problem: the damn would cause massive flooding. In this video, we learn about how a model saved the city and how they figured out something wouldn’t work before computers did all the work. Watch until the end; you can visit the real-life model (it still works!)
