How Nicole Arbour Became a Darling of the Right

Some of you might remember Nicole Arbour, she is the cheerleader/choreographer who made a viral video called “Dear Fat People.” Where she basically told all fat people to get healthy and drop the pounds because she loved us so much. If you want to read about my thoughts on being fat and weight loss then you should read this. I saw that she was doing some work for Trump and I was surprised. I let the post sit for a bit because I had other things to say and work on but I wanted to circle back a little bit because Nicole Arbour has a new video out on the Rubin Report.

Anyway, after this video came out she racked up millions of views and did a tour of national television talking about the video and her opinion on America’s obesity crisis. At the time, she was posting videos regularly and was getting millions of views on Youtube and Facebook. She was on everyone’s timeline back in 2015 but she seemingly disappeared shortly thereafter. She reported that her account was removed as was the video but her channel is up today and the video can still be viewed. She did several more videos in the same style but they did not get the attention of Dear Fat People. She still posts videos on Facebook but not as often as she used to post. Her most recent post was over a month ago.

My gut tells me that Trump won.

If you look at her youtube channel, she hasn’t posted much in the last few years but in the video posted above from the Rubin Report, she is back and she is talking all things, Trump. During the 2020 campaign, she was out and about at various Trump events and the RNC convention. So how did the “Dear Fat People girl” become a darling of the right? According to her, it started with a friend in LA and a particularly inspiring video by Trump. At this point, it should be noted that Nicole Arbour is from Canada but now lives here in the USA and from what I can tell can vote. The Right is always looking for “former left celebrities” that leave the “loony left” for the Right where “intelligence, freedom, and sanity live.”

In the interview with the Rubin Report she talks about her journey and how once she got to know Trump, she liked his policies. This is not the first time she has embraced a more right-wing view of things. Back in 2018, she did a parody video of Childish Gambino’s “This is America.” That was pretty much the last time she had any attention. I was surprised at the lack of information about her over the past few years. I scanned google looking for information but the Rubin Report video was always the first thing. If you look through her Twitter (example above) it is littered with Trump support. I can see why folks in the GOP wanted her on board. She still commands a huge Facebook following and let’s face it, Facebook was pretty important to the Trump campaign. Someone with her kind of following would be helpful for live events and support. Ultimately, it wasn’t enough to push Trump over the line on electoral votes.

I’m not sure what is next for Nicole and her career. She has never had the celebrity of 2015 in the past 5 years but I imagine that she will find a ready made audience among her new conservative friends.
