Are you interested in elevating your business? If so, then you should absolutely think about focusing on how your team perceives your company. Don’t fall into the trap of only thinking about your customers because this is always going to be a massive mistake. Your team is the lifeforce of your company. If you don’t get the right people on board, then you’ll struggle to compete or remain productive in the future. So, with that in mind, let’s explore the key elements that you need to get right if you want to elevate your business in the eyes of your business team.

Environment

First, you should think about aspects like the environment. If you improve your work environment, your team members are always going to be more inclined to give their best each and every day.

Air Quality

Something to consider when it comes to the environment of your workplace is the air quality. You need to remember that, like you, your employees will be in that same space for eight hours of the day. If they are breathing in poor air then you can expect a lot of sicknesses and people taking time off to recover. Unfortunately, time off can be detrimental for your business as staff shortages equals less projects and tasks being completed on time. You may also need to hire someone short term to fill that gap.

You may be wondering how you can improve the air quality around the office, well that’s easy. You could contact a HVAC maintenance team to come and give your ducts a service, they may also change the filters. This means the air will circulate and your employees will always be breathing fresh air, free from toxins. Plants are a natural way to elimite toxins and any other nasties floating around the place. If you love all things green then certainly consider getting some office plants.

Temperature

Think about the temperature of your workspace, you don’t want this to be too hot or too cold. There are problems with both of these and neither will be particularly pleasant for the workers having to suffer through it. Some offices will have their heating on all throughout the year, this is totally unnecessary. Not only will it destoy the planet by releasing a huge carbon footprint into the atmosphere, it will also be incredibly hot in summer or people to comfortably work. If your office is mostly glass then this will automatically let more heat in from outside. Consider the outside temperature when deciding whether or not to put the heating or the air con on.

If for any reason your heating or air conditioning is broken then you need to make a decision on what to do. If it is unsafe for your workers then you need to inform them to stay at home, if work can be done from home then that’s even better for you. You could also contact a company who rents out portable heaters or cooling systems while you wait for yours to be repaired. This will ensure you can carry on working and nothing will be impacted or affected by this. You will need enough to effectively heat or cool the entire space, you don’t want some of your workers being comfortable while others are sweltering or shivering.

Rewards

Next, consider rewards. Rewards go beyond questions about the right level of pay, but it’s a good place to start.

Pay

So, let’s start with levels of pay. You need to be paying your employees enough to get by and it needs to match or better the legal limit. Your potential employees won’t apply for jobs within your company if your rate of pay isn’t fair or they can’t live off it. You should always pay your employees what they are worth and what they have worked for. So, for example you won’t pay a student the same as a graduate with ten years of experience. Make sure you know what each job role is worth before you send out applications.

Bonuses

Consider bonuses at least once a year. This will keep your employees on track and always give them something to work towards. Bonuses don’t have to be a lot, especially if they need to be split between a big team. Even if you give $500 each christmas, this is better than nothing and shows you appreciate all the hard work and efforts. Sit down with the big bosses of your company and decide who is getting what.

Progress Structure

No one wants to feel stuck in a role that they cannot move forward from. Everyone wants to feel as though they are making progress in their life and in their career. Here’s how to give them this feeling.

Open Door

Do make sure that you have an open door policy. The right open door policy will always mean that team members can come to you when they have an issue and will never feel stifled or as if they have no room for growth.

Training

Training is critical if you want your team members to feel as though they are moving forward in their role. There are lots of different online platforms that you can explore if you are interested in ensuring that training is both easy and versatile for your team members. This also means that you can easily fit it into the work schedule without impacting productivity.

Technology

It’s important that your business feels like a modern enterprise. The best way to do this is to make sure that you are investing in the right tech your company requires.

Computers

First, you should make sure that you are getting the right computers in your business. Computers are always going to be a key piece of tech for any office space. You might think that all computers are more or less the same. However, this isn’t quite true. In reality, all computers are different and if a computer takes longer to load then it’s going to slow things right down in your business.

Wellbeing Tech

It’s not just about the computers that your team members use on a daily basis. You should also think about technology related to wellbeing as well. For instance, you might want to explore the tech that can be used by your HR team to monitor your employees and ensure that they are happy in their role. If you do this, you can guarantee that you can put out fires in your office, before they burn it down.

Sustainability

Believe it or not, you can easily get more people on board with your business by focusing on high levels of sustainability in your office environment. This could include anything from investments in social panels to the right tech. You might think that this is going to have a major impact. But a lot of people these days are incredibly eco-conscious. They want to make sure that the business they work for is doing its part.

Office Culture

Remember, most people will spend more than 30% of their life working. So, it’s essential, that people enjoy spending time in the office. Here’s some of the steps you can take to guarantee that’s the case in an era when career satisfaction is at an all time low.

Team Building

You definitely need to consider team building as a way to keep people on track and ensure that they feel as though they are a part of a group, rather than just another cog in a bigger machine. There are lots of team building activities you can explore and you just need to think about finding the option that is going to work for your group.

Parties

Another point worth thinking about is parties. At the very least, you should have a festive party at the end of the year. But this is just one of the possibilities. You might also want to think about options such as a summer party. Parties like this are great ideas because it allows people to relax and ensure that they are able to enjoy the company of one another. This can bring people together, particularly if you have a team that is often separated with some individuals who don’t get much time together at all in the work setting.

Breaks

Last, but certainly not least, you should think about the breaks for your team members. It’s important to be aware that your team members should be taking regular breaks throughout the day. Experts recommend that they break for at least ten minutes every hour. While this might seem like a low level of productivity, it’s going to help keep them focused and ensure that they stay on task in the future.

We hope this helps you understand some of the key steps that you can take to ensure that you are able to elevate your business and gain the right level of attention from new team members in the future when you are running your company. Remember, the right new candidate will provide the perfect blend of innovation and productivity.
