Happy Saturday everyone! We are going to dig into the Matt Gaetz situation shortly first I want to start off with a few personal notes and updates. I did not do the newshour this past week because of some travel. I will be back on Monday covering all sorts of fun stories (including things not related to Trump!).

I want to let everyone know that if you pre-ordered for America’s Lost Generation and What the Hell is Going On? Post-Covid edition, you’ve received refunds this week. We started the pre-orders for America’s Lost Generation way too soon and the book is only now just getting ready to go into full production. I will do a fresh push for pre-orders when things are closer.
As for WHIGO, my publisher has canceled it because it’s a reissue of a previous book, and they don’t really want to pour money into it. Never mind that the book was in my original contract; that is how these things go. I will be posting all the content from that book here on The Cameron Journal. I’ll let you know when it’s ready.
I also wanted to remind everyone that regardless of what you think about this election, we are in for some tough times ahead. If you’ve been watching my content, you’ll know that President-Elect Trump plans on putting on some stiff tariffs and organizing mass deportations. I think life is going to get very similar to the pandemic. Community organizing is vital. I encourage you to join The Cameron Journal Discord. It’s normally only for Cameron Journal+ subscribers, but I’m going to open it up to everyone temporarily so that we can stick together through the tough times ahead.
I’ve also been thinking about happiness a lot today. I was doing a little bit of shopping before Thanksgiving (the last non-crazy day to do it), and I’ve had some shifting and changing attitudes about what it means to be happy and what happiness means to me. My close friends know that I always say, “I don’t do happiness.” And traditionally, I don’t. It’s a fleeting emotion and not worth chasing. It just doesn’t last very long, and soon, life sends you a new problem that ruins it anyway. But I have been feeling the urge to seek out happiness more and more. I look at my life and realize how much doesn’t make me happy or does nothing for me (emotionally) at all. I am ever-mindful of this as I go about my daily tasks and try to grow The Cameron Journal. I’m also trying to figure out if what I’m doing really makes me happy or if I’m just going along with it because it is the best option for me. Conversely, I don’t know what would really make me happy. The last time I did things I enjoyed was when I was a child. I’ve spent most of my life trying to do things to get attention (no surprise there), and I’m not quite sure what happiness looks like at this stage of life.
In any case, let’s turn to the news.

This week, Matt Gaetz withdrew himself from consideration for nomination to be Attorney General. The bulk of the attention is on the scandal from him going on “dates” and allegedly having sex with a 17 sex worker in Florida. However, it has much more to do with the fact that Senators were already peeling off support for his nomination. In his stead, Trump announced that Pam Bondi, the current AG of Florida will replace him. Gaetz had his issues, but Pam Bondi will likely be more effective and implement more of Trump’s agenda than Gaetz would have been able to accomplish. I think the most hilarious part is that the whole thing with Gaetz lasted 8 days (not even a full Scaramucci) and that we are right back to the same sort of revolving door of people from the first term. It is a return to form from Trump, and he isn’t even in office yet.
This week, we also learned that Trump is planning on prosecuting everyone involved with the Jack Smith special counsel investigation into him and the January 6th affair. I imagine similar cases will be brought against anyone involved in the various Trump cases, including Letitia James, Fanny Willis, and Alvin Bragg. That would be the retribution portion of his time in office. Is it a good thing to do? Certainly not, from now on, it will be nearly impossible to prosecute former presidents or anyone of high office really, because the legal consequences for those involved will simply be too high. The Supreme Court offered the office of the President immunity de jure, but this move will give the office immunity de facto. The cherry on top is that the State of New York will not be sentencing Trump for his fraud case in that state and is putting the case on ice where it will go to die. There will simply be fewer guardrails on the office in the future, regardless of who is in power.
This week, in International News, Ukraine shot its first long-range missiles into Russia, and Russia responded with its “new” Oreshnik missile system and fired it into Ukraine with impressive footage that can be likened to the hand of god. The missile is hypersonic and, according to Russia, cannot be stopped by Western defense systems. In response, European powers expressed their concern about the escalation, and the US is deploying ATACAMS defense systems to the region. The most entertaining news is how the new North Korean troops that have been sent to the region to assist Russian forces are not doing much because they spend most of their time watching porn and doing what one does when consuming such things. At least they are eating well for the first time in their lives.
Over in Israel, their offensive into southern Lebanon has broken down with heavy fighting and much resistance throughout the area. Given the ongoing problems in Gaza and new flare-ups in the West Bank, I think Israel will pull back from Southern Lebanon. Israel will often do an incursion into Lebanon and then quickly pull back. However, the Biden administration has continued weapons and payments to Israel. How long that will continue will be up for debate as the new Trump administration gets into power and there is growing resistance in Congress to continue funding Israel’s conflict. The rumor is that Netanyahu has held off on a cease-fire with the Biden administration, waiting for Trump to get into power.
The Interview
This week, Ken Good joined us at the show. He is an attorney out of Texas who is advocating against many of the trends we have seen in criminal justice reform and around cash bail for criminals. The conversation is a tough one but informative and important given our present circumstances and the rising crime in the country.
