Employees can be fussy creatures, especially in high-value industries. Many know that the companies they work for rely on them to continue doing their jobs effectively.
For this reason, it can be challenging to provide employees with everything they want. What exactly are they after?
That’s the topic of this post. We look at some of the things your fussiest workers want to see and how adding them to your office would improve your ability to attract and retain “talent.”
Comfortable, Ergonomic Workstations
Fussy employees usually want comfort at every turn, and a crudely designed workstation simply is not going to cut the mustard. Workers have to have ergonomic chairs and correctly adjusted desks with well-incorrectly positioned monitors. So, providing options like stand-up desks, wrist supports, or a foothold can make quite a large difference. The employees’ physical comfort can lead only to happiness and increased output.
Remember, many fussy employees care greatly about their health and well-being. They don’t want to be stuck at desks that fail to meet their well-being needs. So adding perks like these can make a significant difference.
Quiet Areas For Concentration
Don’t overlook the value of quiet areas for concentration. Open offices may be great for collaboration, but they are often a nightmare for employees who actually wants peace.
Fussy team members will always want special areas to sit and work without distractions. Soundproof pods, quiet rooms, or even noise-canceling headphones offer that peace necessary for them to perform well.
Remember, some people need quiet areas to work otherwise they can’t concentrate, particularly those with conditions like ADD, or introverts.
Green Spaces
Fussy employees also want offices to have green spaces they can enjoy. These can improve their mood and leave them feeling refreshed after a hard stint in the office.
Adding real plants can be a hassle and a lot of work. They require light, heat, food, and moisture. But artificial plants get around this problem while offering the same visual appeal. Most employees can’t tell they’re not real, unless they touch them.
Fast Internet
Don’t overlook the importance of offering fast internet. Employees want to be able to access websites immediately instead of having to wait for things to load (which can be highly frustrating).
The faster the internet, the better. The thing should work the first time around, with images on pages popping up in less than about 1.5 seconds. If it is any longer than that, it can lead to frustration and even burnout.
Multiple Break Options
Providing fussy employees with multiple break options is also an excellent idea. Giving them different things to do during their downtime allows them to vary their activities and avoids the sensation that every day is the same.
For example, you could provide outdoor patios, kitchen areas, places for vaping, and so on. These perks mean that there’s always something else for them to enjoy.
So there you have it: some of the things that your fussiest employees want you to have in the office.
