Pack the Right Gear

Getting everything in order for a ski trip takes planning. It is not too unlike a regular vacation, however. You still need all of your basic necessities such as toiletries and changes of clothing, of course. But, you will want to bring specialized gear with you as well. Here are some ski essentials to add to your packing list:

  • Snow Goggles

Snow goggles such as Wildhorn snow goggles are vital to protect your eyes from the sun’s powerful rays and reflection off of the snow. Select from a variety of UV protection levels and designs. Pick the best fit to suit your head shape, color preference, and lens type.

  • Foot and Hand Warmers

Cold feet and hands make it difficult to enjoy being outside. If you are prone to poor circulation (always consult your healthcare provider first), consider investing in hand and foot warmers to stay warm and nimble. There is a broad range of disposable options available; but, if you are looking for a more environmental choice, look for USB-rechargeable warmers.

Keep Safety as a Priority

Always, repeat, always keep safety at the forefront of your mind. When you are enjoying outdoor activities, there is invariably an element of uncertainty, no matter how much you plan. Keep the following key items in mind during the planning stages.

  • Ensure your phone is fully charged before heading out to the slopes each day. Pack a small portable charger with a coordinating cord. Make sure it is fully charged, as well.
  • Carry a small and powerful flashlight with fresh batteries. If you go off trail or get lost and nightfall comes, the flashlight will be a needed tool.
  • Add a small whistle to your pack. Should you get lost, this will help others find you. Place it in your pocket or pack instead of around your neck to eliminate the threat of strangulation.

Try Something New

After all of that preparation, remember to have fun. After all, that is what you are out there on the trails to do! Here is a video showing you how to do some tricks on the slopes (just in case you do not already have that in your proverbial toolbelt).

If the tricks prove too difficult for you, try something a little more your speed. If you ski, move on to snowboarding or vice versa. If you have only skied downhill, try a cross-country jaunt. You might be surprised by what is involved and how much fun you have when you change up your usual pursuits.
