When the festive season is here, many businesses understandably take a break. They give their staff some holiday time, and won’t require them to come in for a week or two depending on the culture you live in and the expected norms of the holiday season.

But of course, just because we feel like laying in bed and sleeping in, cooking delicious meals, and going for winter walks with our family, it doesn’t mean that our business vanishes in a cloud of smoke during this period. Ultimately, you need to make sure it’s ticking over while you’re gone.

For instance, many companies put in place their advertisement strategy to roll into the new year with, such as by using French PPC specialists to curate the best campaign ready for resumption. But how might you keep your business working even over the winter break from that point on? Consider the following:

Keep Your Products Open For Online Purchase But With Clear Delivery Caveats

It’s fine to make sure your products are open for delivery and even run discounts to clear your stock, but make it transparent that your business won’t fulfill delivery on the exact timeline you may usually. This way you can still come back and start to fulfill orders but without the necessary time limitations you would work to, and allowing customers to understand that can help prevent mistakes later on down the line.

Sustain Protective Storage

Many businesses protect their premises under lock and key and security apparatus when gone, but it’s also wise to place your most sensitive items in storage if you can. This way you can ensure that even if there was a break-in, your most valued inventory is unlikely to be on-site and ready to access. These can also be industry-specific such as raw materials depending on their weight and cost.

Outsourcing Measures

If you have a business that delivers digital content using freelance specialists to provide the baseline content, they may be willing to work over the winter break, especially if you can offer them consistent volume or if they don’t take rest periods during this period like others do. Making it clear what days should be booked onto and which should be worked can be helpful and allow you to ensure a clear delivery timeline even when you’re gone.

Review Check-Ins

Even during the winter break, it’s good to check in once in a while. This way you can make sure that nothing has gone wrong in your absence. For instance, if you related to our previous subheading, you might have a professional log-in to check the content or coding delivery timelines to make sure everything is up to speed and work is being assigned correctly. Moreover, payroll isn’t suspended during this period and so making sure this is correctly calibrated will matter too.

With this advice, we hope you can more easily keep your business working even over the winter break, and benefit as a result.
