The B-58 Hustler was supposed to be a new bomber in the middle 60s to keep up with the Soviets but it was generally a failed boondoggle. In a classic case of government contracting and requirements gone wrong, The B-58 is an example of what happens when you give companies too much money, too many requirements and don’t have a proper focus on the real goal. This plane was plagued by every problem and was so bad that it was put out of service just a few years after being commissioned. It barely flew any missions because it was simply too hard to maintain. This is a fun history video that is perfect for the weekend.
