This year has been tough. After 2 years away from the world of media, I made a triumphant return to media with Rouges Magazine and revitalizing this blog. When I first started writing regularly here again I honestly didn’t know what to write about. When I was doing The Cameron Cowan Show, it was easy. I only had one home so all my ideas ended up here, in videos or on the podcast. Running 2 blogs has been a different experience because I have to really work on what goes to which site and which audience I want to address. While Rouges has its own voice, I had to re-find my voice for this blog. It was hard at first. I struggled to get posts up and running. I was trying to get traffic developing for the bookstore too. But I eventually found my voice and started posting 3 times a week. Between both products, I’m either writing or directing content for about 65 posts a month between both products and I will be expanding in 2020. I might have started this journey in 2018 but 2019 saw me hit its stride.

Politically, 2019 has been a tremendous year. The presidential campaign began in earnest and we’re just ready for Iowa caucuses and New Hampshire primaries. Impeachment went from a rumor to reality and as of this writing, the process is still on-going with a vote upcoming very soon. There have been too many scandals to name or think about right now but it has provided plenty of fodder for late-night shows and commentators like me. In 2020, the presidential debate will be in full swing and the contest will really begin. Many questions are still left unanswered and ultimately we will find out if Americans are accepting of this kind of leadership or if they are fed up with the scandal-ridden presidency of Donald Trump.

On the personal side, I moved this year from Seattle to West Virginia, attended a writing residency in Alberta, Canada, and met someone special in my life. It’s been a big year. It’s been over a decade since I had a girlfriend and so there have been plenty of new changes! I finished a book, published 2 books, and got my short story collection ready for a 2020 release. Rouges went from a new site to a well-established content provider with growing traffic and my bookstore saw growth too. For my first year back in the world of media, 2019 has been a bumper year for me. I know 2020 will bring even new challenges and new opportunities for growth and excitement. I hope you all join me on this new journey. Please make sure to have a great new year, please be safe if you intend to celebrate, and I’ll see you all in 2020. It’s a new year and a new decade. Let’s make it good!
