Although humanity has spent a great deal of time on fashions and being fashionable has been a pursuit for several decades the whole idea of being “fashionable” is a fairly modern concept. Women of the past centuries, while concerned with their appearance were not as worried about being up to date with the latest trends. This is partly because people owned far fewer clothes (fabric and clothing were expensive) and because trends lasted for years not merely a season or two. There was also no alternate clothing for younger people. Even in the 20th century, the idea of “juniors” clothing didn’t become a thing until the 1960s when young people demanded fashion of their own that was not worn by adults. In this video, we learn about all things fashionable from a youtuber who specializes in historic clothing and fashion.
