Remember the Zero Waste trend? A few years ago, it was very trendy for people to work at reducing their total output of waste. No more single-use plastics or coffee cups. Instead, people armed with metal straws, glass water bottles, and metal coffee cups were reducing their waste and their impact on the planet. This inspired people to embrace plant-based eating and reducing their carbon footprint in a general way. In an age where the climate change narrative has convinced people that carbon is bad, this was ostensibly a good thing. I hate pollution far more than I hate carbon so producing less waste is a good thing. We already know recycling is a lie so less waste is a good thing. However, like so many of these trends, capitalism has entered the chat. It became obvious that in order to really pull off the zero waste thing, you had to have money and plenty of it. In this video, we learn more about this trend, why it fell off, and why it ended up being a giant cash grab (as these things often are).
