In this video from John Stossel, he presents an interesting counterpoint to the argument for DEI training and policies in corporate America. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion has been the new moniker for the old fashioned “diversity training.” However, Stossel maintains that studies show that when companies and institutions start implementing DEI, it actually makes workplaces less diverse and puts people off on hiring candidates who are not European-descended. I think this is because some people feel like if diverse candidates are in the workplace, they are one “micro aggression” or “wrong word” from either being sued, fired, or both. The solution? Don’t hire anyone from a diverse background. I don’t quite think Stossel is right on this but I think it’s important to consider this idea.
